SUMMER STAFF JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND APPLICATIONS:  Applications for 2019 will be posted on the website around Mid December.  Staff Training dates for 2019 are listed below as well.  We will mainly have online applications for 2019 as our current Staff Database is better set up for online than entering information in manually.

EVENTS FOR SUMMER STAFF (FALL-WINTER 2018-2019)

DECEMBER FUNDRAISER DINNER AND AUCTION (Saturday, December 1; 4:30 pm-9:00 pm) (Paid Position’ $15 per hour)
This is a night that Harlow Staff will get to serve members from our Community that support our ministry through their financial gifts, prayer, gifts, etc. It will be taking place in the First Baptist Church (Eugene) atrium and sanctuary. It is always a blessing for them to meet some of our incredible Summer Staff that have poured out so much to the kids each Spring Break and Summer. We need approximately 16 table servers; HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS OR COLLEGE FOLKS. SUMMER STAFF REUNION (FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14-SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15)  Our annual Summer Staff Reunion will take place on Friday, December 14 beginning at 7 pm and go through Saturday, December 15 until 4 pm. It will be a time to reflect back on the summer, learn from each other how the Lord has worked in and through us during the school year so far, and look ahead to the 2019 season. It will be an overnight event for CAPS all the way up through Impact Team. Wranglers, Lifeguards, and Work Crew are also invited to attend. If you are only able to come to a portion of the Reunion, we would love to see you there. It will be an “adult supervised” event. A late night snack will be provided Friday night, and Breakfast and Lunch will be provided on Saturday.  Let us know whether or not you will be able to attend via the following link:

STAFF TRAINING DATES 2019:

This is for our Impact Team and Counseling Staff.  There will be other training times for Work Crew, Junior Wrangler, Wranglers and Lifeguards.  Training is required for all New and Returning Staff.  Here are the dates to mark on your Calendar for 2019.

-Impact Team Training: Friday, June 14-Tuesday, June 18.  There will be a break in Training on Sunday, June 16 for Father’s Day.  Those serving the first camp will be on camp until 5 pm on Friday, June 21.

-Senior Counselor Training (Ages 18-Up): Saturday, June 15-Tuesday, June 18. There will be a break in Training on Sunday, June 16 for Father’s Day.  Those serving the first camp will be on camp until 5 pm on Friday, June 21. Staff will be staying on camp overnight.

-Counselor Training (Ages 16-17):  Sunday evening, June 16-Tuesday evening June 18.  Those serving the first camp will be on camp until 5 pm on Friday, June 21. Staff will be staying on camp overnight.

-Counselors-In-Training (CIT; Age 15): Monday morning, June 17-Tuesday evening June 18.  Staff will be staying on camp overnight.

-Counselor Assistant Program (Ages 13-14): Training will be on Monday and Tuesday, June 17-18.  Training on Monday will be 9 am-9 pm, and Training on Tuesday will be from 9 am-7 pm.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS                                                                                                                                     

PAID POSITIONS:
New for 2019:  There is an opportunity for any Senior Counselor or Impact Team member who has a valid Lifeguarding certificate to also serve as a Lifeguard during camper aquatic activities and earn a few extra dollars.  See online application for details.
Senior Counselor Paid Position; $140 for Spring Break. Summer pay rates begin at $175 per week.
  • Camp Harlow Senior Counselors play a very key role in our ministry and can have a significant spiritual impact on the lives of their campers. They can make a difference in camper’s lives in the midst of rotations and activities, evening programs, free time, cabin devotions, Bible studies and by being an example of Jesus Christ. The hours are long, and the job is challenging, therefore, these people need to be deeply committed to Christ while ministering to others and serving God. *Must be at least 18 years of age by 1st day of training.  The time commitment for most weeks is from early Sunday afternoon on Sundays to late afternoon on Fridays (Sunday evening-Friday evening for Day Camps). Senior Counselors are expected to attend Training beginning Saturday, June 15 at 9 am-Tuesday evening, June 18.
Counselor (Age 17)  $100 for Spring Break: $125 per week for Summer until positions have been filled.
  • Counselors serve as ministry assistants to our Senior Counselors. They are a critical part of our ministry and are involved in the same areas as noted above.  Must be at least 17 years of age by 1st day of training and/or will be a High School Senior September 2018.  Counselors will stay overnight for all sessions they are serving including Training and Day Camps.  The time commitment for most weeks is from early Sunday afternoon on Sundays to late afternoon on Fridays (Sunday evening-Friday evening for Day Camps). Counselors will be expected to attend Training beginning Sunday evening, June 16-Tuesday evening, June 18.
Lifeguard
  • Must be at least 16 years of age and have current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.  Lifeguard certifications must be from the American Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis and Associates, Royal Lifeguarding or comparable certifying organization.  Previous lifeguard experience desirable.
Work Crew Leadership 17 and older
  • Food Handlers card required.  To be eligible to serve on Work Crew, you must be able to serve for the full duration of commitment (Monday-Friday) unless otherwise noted. Lunch will be provided.  Click here for detailed information.
Wrangler (18 & Older) 
  • Wranglers serve in a leadership role under the direction of the Head Wrangler.  Experience in Western and/or English disciplines required, as well as knowledge of horse nutrition and behavior. Wranglers will instruct both individuals and large groups of beginning riders. Click here for more information.

Counselor Age 16 (Volunteer Position)
  • Counselors serve as ministry assistants to our Senior Counselors. They are a critical part of our ministry and are involved in the same areas as noted above.  Must be at least 16 years of age by 1st day of training (Exceptions sometimes made for summer birthdays based upon grade going into in September, but not a guarantee).  Counselors will stay overnight for all sessions they are serving including Training and Day Camps.  The time commitment for most weeks is from early Sunday afternoon on Sundays to late afternoon on Fridays (Sunday evening-Friday evening for Day Camps).   Counselors will be expected to attend Training beginning Sunday evening, June 16-Tuesday evening, June 18.
Counselor In Training (Volunteer Position)
  • The Counselor In Training (CIT) program is a vital part of the overall ministry at Camp Harlow. It is designed primarily as a training program, helping young students develop sound fundamentals of Christian Servant-Leadership. NOTE: CITs will serve at Day Camps only. *Must be at least 15 years of age by 1st day of training.  (Exceptions sometimes made for summer birthdays based upon grade going into in September, but not a guarantee).  CITs will stay overnight on sight during Training and Day Camps they serve.  The time commitment for Day Camps will be Sunday evening-Friday evening.  CITS will be expected to attend Training beginning at 9 am on June 17-7 pm on June 18.
Counselor Assistant Program (Volunteer Position; DAY TIME ONLY)

It is designed as a training program for 13 and 14 year old students, instilling young students with sound fundamentals for Christian Leadership. The hours are long, and the job is challenging, therefore, these people need to be deeply committed to Christ while ministering to others, exhibit maturity, and serving God. NOTE: CAPs will serve at Summer Day Camps only. *Must be at least 13 years of age by 1st day of training (Exceptions sometimes made for summer birthdays based upon grade going into in September, but not a guarantee).  CAPS will be expected to attend Training Monday and Tuesday, June 17-18.  Training on Monday will be from 9 am-9 pm; and Tuesday from 9 am-7 pm.
Junior Wrangler (DAY TIME ONLY)
  • Junior wranglers are volunteers 13 years of age and older who are willing to provide support to the Wranglers and Equestrian Program.  They are essential to the program’s success.  No previous experience is required, training will be provided.  Junior Wranglers are asked to conduct themselves in a manner that supports the ministry of First Baptist Church and Camp Harlow.
Work Crew (DAY TIME ONLY)
  • Applicants must be 14 years of age and older and have completed 8th grade.  Food Handlers card required.  To be eligible to serve on Work Crew, you must be able to serve for the full duration of commitment (Monday-Friday) unless otherwise noted. Lunch will be provided.
